Women and Burn Out – I See It Every Day
I do see it every day. I have worked in Remedial Massage for nearly four years now and so you can imagine why. I always get my general ache and pain clients, but a lot of people, particularly women, come in and they are as stiff as a board – head to toe.
I have some people who just got back from holidays at the end of January and by the end of March they are in need of another one.
I watch the stress in their lives affecting every part of their bodies, giving them headaches, trouble sleeping, a lowered immune system and so forth.
From what I read online it’s getting worse too with more children being diagnosed with Anxiety. So what’s going on and what can we do about it? (more…)
How Being A Bit Superficial Can Be Good For You
I’ll be honest when I say I’ve always been a bit ambivalent when I look at women who are just impeccably dressed and have their hair and nails perfect, make up just stunning, the kids dressed beautifully… I never knew whether to be impressed or judge them for not having more important things to do.
I try to chose to be impressed, we judge people naturally which is evolution (or so I’m told) but it’s not good. No, I use to self-righteously think that I had more important things in my life then doing my hair… more important things to do than taking care of myself… yeah I was a bit stupid haha.

Okay, I will confess I’m one of those people who cry when I hear a beautiful piece of music or at a sad movie ending, but feeling things deeply can have its pluses when it comes to appreciating life. People give me this odd look when I tell them that going to the park and having a sausage sizzle with onion and tomato sauce just makes me happy in a way that affects me deeply. I think it must be related to some childhood memories that I have forgotten, but I really think these sorts of things are important to keep in our lives. Taking time to stop and really think about what little things make you happy can benefit us in a simple but profound way. (more…)
Waiting for Happiness – Don’t waste your time!
It’s important to have delayed gratification, it can make things that much sweeter when events you have been anticipating happen. Waiting for that overseas holiday, or waiting for Christmas are some good examples. But we can go too far, “I’ll be happy when I pay off my debts” or “I’ll be happy when I have that promotion”. It’s important to enjoy the process and live in the moment so you don’t waste your life! (more…)
