A lot of people these days worry about growing old and looking back on their lives with regret. I’m thirty and I already do actually – to an extent and not in a way that you would expect. You see, if we spend our lives delaying happiness, waiting for the next goal to be achieved and not being present, we miss a lot of opportunities to create happiness now – which makes happy memories for later.
I struggled with Depression in my late teens – early twenties and now I look back and I have nothing from that time. Sure I do have a few good memories, I learned a lot of valuable lessons and it’s totally understandable I didn’t feel like documenting my life back then, but it feels like years lost really – which is sad.

I originally learnt about “The Holistic Approach” when I was studying Aromatherapy in 2011. Traditionally, there is a big difference in medicine between Eastern and Western Cultures.
We in the West are finally shutting our mouths and opening our ears and learning from our Eastern friends about their traditions and philosophies. A holistic approach to life is an example of what we are learning, and we have been seeing more of this in our culture in the last few decades.

I can get pretty impatient and bland sometimes. I kinda just slap things together and keep moving. As a busy mother, I have a fair bit to do, and as much as I love looking at other people’s creativity, I just never felt it was so important in my life.
But the more I live, the more I go through times of plenty and times of less, the more I see that things that seem like frivolous activities, are actually vital, not only to our happiness, but also our health.

How Is Having Too Many Choices In Our Lives Making Us Unhappy?
Last night I was messing around on the internet and I came across a TED talk from 2005 called “The Paradox of Choice” by Barry Schwartz. It’s about the down side of having too many choices available to us, and what it’s doing to those who live in affluent western cultures. I’ve actually been thinking about this topic for a few weeks, so I’m having one of those moments where I’m wondering if God showed me the video, or if it was just another act of Selective Perception haha.
